Heart of the Hills
Golf Tournament
OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT WEBSITE
Please see below for an important Announcement Regarding the
79th (2025) Heart of the Hills Tournament
The 79th edition of the Heart of the Hills will be played on non-standard dates in 2025.
The HOH Committee in coordination with the City of Kerrville (Scott Schreiner Golf Course), has determined that based on the major course renovations scheduled to start in January-2025, it is best for the HOH Committee to make an adjustment to the tournament dates for the 2025 HOH. Please see the information (the recent email to HOH players) below; and click on the "feedback survey" to provide your input to the HOH Committee.
HOH Player:
-
The HOH Committee wants to provide HOH players with an update on the plans that are taking shape for the Heart of the Hills in 2025.
-
As you know, the City of Kerrville is planning to start the course renovation project on Scott Schreiner Golf Course in early January-2025.
-
The scope of the multi-million-dollar renovation project includes the renovation of all greens and sand traps along with a new driving range layout.
-
The City and the project contractor are confident the course will be open for play in July-2025, however the City has requested the Heart of the Hills Committee consider moving the dates “back” for the 2025 tournament to give the course a chance to “grow in” and have the maintenance personnel ensure proper “playability” of the renovated course.
-
The HOH Committee has given this request serious consideration and have decided that in order to continue the mission of the Heart of the Hills, including funding of local and regional golf programs, the tournament dates will be adjusted for 2025 – to August 29-31, 2025.
-
The current plan is to conduct the tournament over the 3-day period (3 tournament rounds) before Labor Day 2025 (Friday – Sunday). At this point the shootout, practice round, and registration will be held on the Thursday prior to Round-1 of the tournament.
-
We recognize that this change of dates will not work for everyone’s schedules, but in order to have the course (SSGC) in the best possible condition for the tournament, and to have the tournament be the first “large” tournament on the renovated course, we felt like the change of tournament dates make good sense.
-
For 2024 HOH players that are not able to play in 2025, the HOH Committee will reserve your place in the 2026 HOH, as we get back to the traditional schedule, holding the tournament in the last full week of July.
-
Here is a Q&A regarding the plan for the 2025 HOH:
-
What are the dates for the 2025 HOH? August 29-31, 2025 (Friday-Sunday).
-
When will the registration period open? The HOH Committee will post the 2025 HOH entry forms on the HOH website in early 2025. We will send an email to everyone announcing the opening of the registration period.
-
Why is this only a 3-day tournament this year? Because schools will have started and the dates precede the Labor Day Holiday, the HOH Committee felt like more players would be able to play a 3-day tournament given the new dates for the 2025 tournament.
-
Will the entry fee be reduced by 25% based on the 3-day schedule instead of a 4-day tournament? The tournament fee has not increased in several years, and because the goal for 2025 will be to have all the events (Fish Fry; Raffel; 2-days of lunches), and the need for the HOH Committee to ensure the funding for local golf programs, the entry fee will remain at 2024 levels. It is also important to note that the HOH Committee will continue to put available funds towards the Kerr Bucks and other prizes – based on the size of the field.
-
Will the HOH be a little different than other years? Well—yes. But it will continue the tradition of a multi-day, 2-person partnership, flighted, with tee-times, and excellent competition for everyone! And—it will be exciting to have the opportunity to experience the renovated Scott Schreiner Golf Course!
